cars dont weigh that much. cars are very small. cars stop much quicker than 18 wheelers and other large trucks. cars are more maneuverable than 18 wheelers. cars carry familis and friends. trucks carry expensive freight and costmore than most cars on the road. the road is a truckers' office space. trucks are driven by mothers and fathers sons daughters grandparents etc etc etc. trucks are driven by humans..not precise robots that never misjuge or make mistakes. truck drivers arent deep pockets to try to cause an accident with them so you can sue for easy cash. most truckers are broke or breaking even. truck drivers are usually alwys found at fault even when someone else is the obvious blame...therefore a driver can lose his livliehood' his freedom' everything he owns ' and even his family over the careless abandon of somone who he/she shares the road with. thats why we ask for a little extra room on the road. thats why you should always be alert around our trucks.

started my day at 4am. i drove 197mi to deliver my load. the load was kinda bad from the start and didnt really get any better. the mountains really sucked because my gross weight was 76'940lbs. my dispatcher and i argued about the deivery appointment and i won. he should know by now i know what i am doing. he just comes out looking stupid' but thats his problem not mine. point to ponder. why would a wee little car pass a HUGE 18wheeler who is going 55mph weighing close to 80'000lbs..cut off the truck at the end of the nose and then slow down immediately to 50mph? is it a suicide mission? that is a dumb move. completely thoughtless. there are so many things wrong with that. please give trucks at least 5 car legnths space following distance before you cut in to the lane ahead of them. my next post i will explain why that is so bad. now i sit at a truckstop south of louisville waiting on a load. could be tomorrow

i am an over the road truck driver. i currently drive for prime inc. trucking has many good points and many bad points. truthfully i can say that trucking will be defined by me and most other drivers as bad or good depending on the day or even hour they are asked. truckers dont mind taking a minute or all day to talk about what we do. sometimes you can go to a truckstop or a company terminal and observe two or more drivers involved in deep conversation about trucking. you can leave and come back hours later and they will still be sitting and talking about the same thing. usually you wouldnt want to get to close for fear of being dragged into the conversation. its always the same old song and dance. sometimes though you can catch an excellent conversation full of hilarious tales from the truck to drama on the road and there can be a lot to learn from these conversations. the things that i post from day to day will be about my daily experience and more. hope everyone enjoys.
